How we engineered a stainless steel bi-plainer conveyor chain to handle high loads and harsh wash-down conditions in a WA abattoir
Problem
A Western Australian abattoir required a specialised conveyor chain to improve efficiency and reliability in a demanding livestock processing environment. The chain needed to handle high loads, operate at controlled speeds and withstand moisture, temperature variation and corrosive conditions while integrating seamlessly with the existing conveyor system.
Solution
In collaboration with TransDrive, we engineered a customised stainless steel bi-plainer conveyor chain tailored to the abattoir’s operating requirements. Material selection, load capacity, speed control and environmental resistance were carefully considered, with the chain designed using 3D imaging technology to ensure accurate fit, visualise system interaction, and minimise installation risk before manufacture.
The key considerations in the design process included:
