The “FK” and “FKB” series flange couplings from TAS Schäfer are rigid solutions for connecting two shaft ends. This can be as a complete flange coupling, consisting of 2 flange halves and 2 shrink discs, or optionally as a half flange coupling, consisting of one flange half and one shrink disc. The main function of a rigid flange coupling is the safe and backlash-free connection of two shafts by means of frictional locking. Flange couplings of the “FK” and “FKB” series can be separated directly at the flanges. This simplifies assembly on the respective shaft ends. The shrink discs mounted on the flange halves create a backlash-free connection by pressing the flange hubs onto the shaft ends. Flange couplings are primarily designed to transmit torques. Bending moments and axial forces can also be safely transmitted with the flange couplings type “FK” and “FKB”.
The shrink discs mounted on the flange couplings only provide the required forces and do not transmit any forces or torques between shafts and flange halves. They are therefore not in the flow of forces.
Assembly is carried out by sliding the individual flange halves onto the shaft ends and clamping the shrink discs. In the final step, the individual flange halves are connected by means of bolting.
TAS flange couplings of the “FK” and “FKB” series are used, for example, in marine technology, wind power technology, materials handling technology, mixing and process technology, hydropower technology as well as in crushing plants and elevators.
Types of Flange Couplings
TAS Schaefer flange couplings prove their special quality and robustness in highly loaded drives through a secure and backlash-free frictional connection. Compared to thermal or form-fit solutions, the easy assembly and disassembly is a decisive factor during maintenance work on drives.
TAS Schaefer flange couplings are available in different designs. For smaller installation spaces, we recommend our “FKB” series flange coupling. Here, the shrink discs are positioned on the flange half rotated by 180°. The shrink disc is screwed through the flange blade by means of hexagon socket head screws. This means that the flange coupling can also be used on systems where there is no space on the side next to the shrink discs for suitable tools for clamping the shrink discs. The use of hydraulic shrink discs is also possible.
TAS Schaefer flange couplings can drive masses, but also brake them. For this purpose, we offer our flange couplings optionally with brake discs. Mounting on existing brake discs is also possible, and we will be happy to make any necessary adjustments to our flange couplings.
